Microcement on the Mornington Peninsula
The Peninsula mixes permanent homes in Frankston, Mount Eliza and Mornington with beach houses and weekenders from Rosebud to Portsea. Microcement on the Mornington Peninsula suits both, bringing a calm, continuous finish to bathrooms, kitchens and living areas, with the schedule planned around access.

Local highlights
Planned around your calendar
Application typically takes 5 to 7 days, so it can often be planned for a stretch when the house would otherwise be empty.
Calm, light palettes
Soft whites, pale sands and gentle green-tinged neutrals from the Basic and Nordic collections sit easily with coastal light.
Outdoor-adjacent spaces
Covered terraces, courtyards and outdoor showers are assessed case by case for exposure, substrate and sealing.
Access arranged early
For a house you're not living in, tell us early how access will work so the schedule can be built around it.
Beach houses, weekenders and permanent homes
Peninsula housing is varied. There are established family homes in Frankston, Mount Eliza and Mornington; beach houses and holiday homes from Safety Beach and Dromana to Rye, Blairgowrie, Sorrento and Portsea; rural properties in the hinterland around Red Hill and Merricks; and Flinders, Balnarring, Somers and Hastings on the Western Port side.
Older beach houses often have small bathrooms, dated tiles and kitchens that have seen decades of summers. Microcement can renew those rooms at around 2–3 mm over suitable existing surfaces, such as firmly adhered tiles, plaster and cement-based floors, keeping the work contained to the rooms that need it.
Where a home is lived in year-round, as many are around Frankston and Mount Eliza, the priorities look more like a suburban renovation: bathrooms, kitchens and family living areas that work every day. Further down the Peninsula, the brief is more often a holiday house that needs to be easy to close up and easy to clean.
Scheduling microcement in a holiday home
If the house is a weekender or holiday rental, the schedule matters as much as the finish. Application typically takes 5 to 7 days, depending on size and complexity, and the surface keeps hardening for several weeks, so allow for light use during the first week after completion.
That makes a quieter period, when the house would otherwise sit empty, a natural window for the work. Tell us early how access will work, who holds keys and whether any bookings need to move, so the job can be planned around them. Our guide to how long microcement takes explains the timeline in more detail.
Light, colour and a calm coastal palette
Peninsula light is bright and shifts quickly with the weather over the water. Calm, light palettes tend to suit it: soft whites such as Blanco, Panacotta and Alaska, pale sands such as Almond and Mocha, and pale, softly green-tinged neutrals such as Gris-liquen and Lino.
Pale colours can look quite different in strong coastal light than on a screen, so compare physical samples from the colours and textures range, ideally in the rooms themselves. In a bedroom, a light, continuous finish on walls and floor keeps the room quiet and uncluttered.
Sheen is worth deciding alongside colour. A matte finish keeps glare down in rooms that look out over the water, while a glossier finish bounces more light into a darker hallway or bathroom.
Outdoor-adjacent spaces and wet areas
Microcement can be used outside, and on the Peninsula it's tempting to carry the finish from a living room to a covered terrace or an outdoor shower. Each exterior surface is assessed on its own merits, because exposure to sun, wind-driven rain and salt air, the substrate and the sealing approach all affect whether it's recommended.
Indoors and out, microcement is water-resistant once sealed but isn't waterproof on its own. Waterproofing and slip resistance for wet areas should be confirmed with your builder or relevant professionals, and our bathroom page covers indoor wet areas in more detail.
If the house is closed up between visits, a quick sweep on arrival, followed by a damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner, stops sand being ground into the sealed surface. Avoid abrasive pads and harsh cleaners, which can wear the sealer.

Mornington Peninsula
Local questions.
01Do you work on the Mornington Peninsula?
Yes. Luxury Concrete works across Melbourne and beyond, including the Peninsula from Frankston to Portsea and across to Western Port. Include the property address in your enquiry so the site visit and schedule can be planned.
02When is the best time to schedule work on a holiday home?
Usually when the house would otherwise be empty. Application typically takes 5 to 7 days depending on size and complexity, and the surface should be used lightly for the first week, so leave a buffer before guests arrive.
03Which microcement colours suit a coastal home?
Light, calm tones such as soft whites, pale sands and gentle grey-greens are a natural fit for coastal interiors. Compare physical samples before deciding, as bright coastal light can make pale colours read differently from how they look on screen.
